Collingbourne [A] Match Report
Firstly, apologies, Tommy's away so I'm filling in with the Bud Lite version of his usual match reports this week π. I was also late today due to having no idea where it was I was going! (fine paid)
With a few of the regulars away we were lucky to have 2 oppo join us plus Malcolm's grandsons turn up for their first ever game. Fantastic effort lads, you really got stuck in and a very nice shot for Ben for his first runs too.
We bowled first, Alan and Jamie doing what they do well. Very low run rate and a couple early wickets. I think the oppo were at 40 after 10 overs. Borderline confidence at this point I must admit π
Run rate started going up after the drinks break but we were still getting wickets and playing well. I think the oppo had 3 retire by the end which is quite strong to be fair on a Sunday.
Charlie and I had to apologise for 2 of the worst bowls ever to then go on to hit the wicket. I think the batsman are still scratching their heads how that happened π
There were some very nice fielding moments. More Jamie slides than I could possibly count (see Chris' fines). Good bowling, fielding felt sharp (Phil and Warwick very dependable as ever) and good backing up. Generally I thought we played very well today...... Then I look up at the scoreboard and see they hit 228!!! π€― We do like a challenge don't we???
Away teas were good. Note: Obvs not up to Justine's standards π
Batting kicked off with Jamie and Warwick. Jamie was a man on a mission hitting a very quick 50 with some cracking shots. I thought Warwick would have another good week but unfortunately ran himself out. Batting was good again generally. Quite a few 4s hit and good running by all. Everyone was definitely going for the win today.
Unfortunately the run rate wasn't as good as the oppo on the day. Ramsbury 184 for 9. Any other week I think we'd have won with a score like that. Onwards and upwards guys π
