Leg Rovers [H] Match Report

We opened the batting with the dependable Jamie and Rich who scored 25 and 24 respectively (25 retire rule). Backed up by Casper with a solid knock too before Lee hit a quick 23 and Sean with an even faster 25. We built a great base with 167 on the scoreboard after 20 overs... (far more than either game last year).

With hope and desire we took to the field and got off to a decent start against their strong opening pair. Plenty of run out opportunities, odd catches and chances went the way of the visitors before they stretched their lead through the middle section of their innings. At one stage it looked like it could be over rather quickly due to some good shot play. But we regrouped, held strong in the field and made some changes to reduce their run rate by around 50% per over. Backed up with an incredible catch from Jamie, another from Will and a solid take from Lee behind the wicket it suddenly 'could' happen.

The bowlers held strong and everyone chipped in to draw them out and try and take it the distance. With just over one over to go a fortunate edge ran away over heads to the boundary and we fell to a defeat.

That being said, we didn't give up, we gave it everything we had and with a change of fortune here and there (like Patrick's multiple close throws getting run outs in the early stages) it could easily have gone the other way.

Great evening nonetheless. We go again.
